To My Students:
Hello and welcome to 10th and 11th English! This year will be my twenty-second year in the classroom, and I'm really looking forward to spending it with you. I've taught English (and drama) at grades six through twelve. I have a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education/English from Valdosta State University, a master's degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University, and a doctoral degree in Teacher Leadership, also from Walden University. All that means is I am one major teacher nerd.
At home, I live with my husband. We have two dogs, Mia and Poe, and we have two children. My older child works in production and is pursuing a business degree (he really wanted to be a pirate, but there was no college major for that), and my younger child is a United States Marine, who plans to study history and law after his service. You will hear lots about them, especially how they are typical young adults and made lots of mistakes, so I will understand yours. In my spare time, I like to read, cook, and run.
I hope you are as excited about this year as I am!
To My Visitors:
Hello and welcome to my website. Here you will find my blog, resources from my classes, and teaching resources I discover along the way. My interests include differentiated instruction, adolescent reading motivation, and data-driven instruction. I do quite a bit of professional development reading, and I share reviews of the various books and articles I read. I maintain a Pinterest board of classroom ideas that you might also find interesting. Feel free to email me or follow me on twitter at @linda_winfree.
